GAT262 LoRaWAN Module – Low-Power Long-Range Wireless PCBA

The GAT262 LoRaWAN Module is a low-power, long-range wireless transceiver module designed for IoT applications. It features a compact size, easy-to-use UART interface, and supports long-distance data transmission with minimal power consumption.

Compliant with the LoRaWAN® 1.0.3 protocol, the module supports Class A and Class C specifications. It can connect to major LPWAN IoT platforms like TTN, Tencent Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud, and also supports point-to-point communication for building private LoRaWAN networks.

Project Background

Our client, an IoT solution provider, needed a compact, low-power LoRaWAN transceiver module for their smart agriculture monitoring system. The module needed to operate reliably in remote farm environments with minimal power consumption and long transmission distances.

Key challenges:

  • Ultra-low power consumption for 2+ years of battery life

  • Reliable communication over 3km+ in rural environments

  • Easy integration with existing cloud platforms (TTN, Tencent Cloud, Alibaba Cloud)

  • Compact form factor for integration into sensor nodes

  • Stable operation across wide temperature ranges

Our PCBA Solution

AnyPCBA delivered a complete LoRaWAN module PCBA solution based on the SX1262 RF chip and STM32 MCU.

Our design and manufacturing approach included:

  • RF Optimization: Carefully designed impedance-controlled traces and antenna matching network to maximize range and sensitivity

  • Power Management: Optimized power supply layout to achieve deep sleep current below 2μA, extending battery life

  • Compact Layout: 4-layer PCB design with carefully placed components to achieve a small form factor while maintaining signal integrity

  • Thermal Management: Proper thermal vias and copper distribution for stable operation in harsh environments

  • Test Strategy: Comprehensive RF testing and functional verification to ensure consistent performance across all units

The module provides a UART interface with AT command set, making it easy for customers to integrate into their existing systems. It supports both OTAA and ABP network joining modes, and is compatible with major LoRaWAN network servers.
